Strength Training and Aging…

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) - Department of Health and Human Services had this to say about strength training and aging.

"Research has shown that strengthening exercises are both safe and effective for women and men of all ages. In fact, people with health concerns—including heart disease or arthritis—often benefit the most from an exercise program that includes lifting weights a few times each week."

STRIVE consists of three simple steps to improved health, wellness and quality of life.
Step 1. Personal Evaluation This takes place at the start of every new STRIVE program. Each comprehensive evaluation consists of a lifestyle, functional and quality of life assessment. As part of our program all participants will have the opportunity to set up a confidential meeting to discuss any aspect of their evaluation with one of our highly trained wellness coaches or counselors.
Step 2. Exercise/Training This begins once your evaluation has been completed. We start our program with a personalized training and familiarization period which introduces our STRIVE exercises and ensures safe and sound technique. Following these initial sessions STRIVE members participate in group training sessions 3x per week. Each session takes as little as 30 minutes. STRIVE is uniquely designed for older adults and has, for more than a decade, provided benefits of particular importance to members such as: improved and maintained functional independence, increased strength, greater energy, sound sleep, and enhanced quality of life.
Step 3. Personal Re-evaluation This takes place every 12 weeks during the STRIVE program. On-going assessment reports will highlight your progress and provide you with powerful, positive feedback. As with the initial evaluation, all participants will have the opportunity to set up a confidential meeting to discuss any aspect of their evaluation with one of our highly trained wellness coaches or counselors.
